BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Anirudh Sharma has been working at Department of Biotechnology, JIIT since July 2023. Before joining JIIT, Dr. Anirudh Sharma worked as Assistant Professor at University Institute of Biotechnology, Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab from January 2019 to June 2023. He completed his PhD from Department of Biotechnology, Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology in 2018. During his PhD he qualified CSIR-SRF in 2014 and availed CSIR fellowship. He has done his Master’s degree in Biotechnology from Choudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut in 2010.

In past, Dr. Anirudh Sharma had worked as Junior research fellow in DAE-BRNS sponsored project.  During this project, He worked at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai at periodic intervals as part of the assignments under the sponsored project. He has been worked as project fellow at INMAS-DRDO from July 2010 to July 2011. His core area of research to develop a process for biofuels production from waste feedstocks through biocatalysis.

RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS

The research is focused toward the generation of biofuels from industrial wastes. He use acid oil as feedstock for the generation of biodiesel and renewable diesel through whole-cell catalysis. The use of acid oil is an alternative, cost-effective and high-quality feedstock as it can significantly reduce the economic implication involved in biodiesel production. On the other hand; The importance of this research is to identify the potential use of whole-cell biomass suspension as biocatalyst that effectively enhance the rate of reaction and contributes another important share in reducing the cost associated with the production of biodiesel and useful for commercial applications.
